Demographics of a Bout Audience
STRD has a vast loyal fan following and is gaining new fans of roller derby at rapid speeds. Roller derby is not an average sport, therefore neither are our fans. Our demographic is incredibly broad and diverse. Ages range from children to adults at Outlaws bouts; our bouts capture the attention of everyone. Roller Derby has become one of the fastest growing female-dominated sports in history. It is athletic, it is strong, it is derby. One thing is certain our fans are dedicated, returning over and over, and love roller derby with a ferocity. We are family friendly and are involved in community charitable causes reaching many different demographics.
The Average Fan
A demographic survey conducted by WFTDA in 2012 resulted in the following responses from fans:
61% of fans are female
38% of fans are ages 25-34; 41% are 35-54
84% of fans have at least some college education; 22% have graduate degrees
27% have children under 18 in their household
Demographics of Online and Print Presence
STRD’s Facebook page has almost 4,000 fans and interacts with them daily. STRD has a running website, instagram and Twiter account. Small Town Roller Derby has been covered by the Kalkaska Leader, 9&10 news and various other local news sources. Additionally, STRD bouts are listed in the Kalkaska Travel Guide, reaching out of town visiting fans of roller derby.
